Tasting Note: This Cabernet is a wine of restrained power with an intense, ripe berry bouquet with hints of chocolate and liquorice. The palate fills with crushed blackcurrant fruit flavours over the typical herbaceous characters of eucalyptus and mint and is beautifully complemented by elegant French oak notes.

Producer Details: Established by Bob & Cherie Berton in May 1996 with 75 acres of land at 450m above sea level on gently rolling hills in a sub-region of Eden Valley in South Australia. The superb Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility has the capacity to process 10,000 tonnes, and allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings.

In The Vineyard: The superb Reserve Shiraz and Reserve Chardonnay wines are still sourced from this plot. In 2007 Bob purchased the Yenda winery in the heart of the Riverina. This state of the art facility has the capacity to process 10,000 tonnes, and allows Berton Vineyards to produce value for money wines which sit alongside his premium single vineyard offerings. The grapes were sourced from the prized terra rossa region of Coonawarra. They were picked in late April and fermented in closed fermenters for 10 days at between 25 and 28 degrees and was pumped over 4 times a day

In The Winery: The wine was pressed off into stainless steel tanks where it completed its malolactic fermentation in the late autumn. The wine was then racked off onto French oak with an equal spread of new, 1, 2 and 3 year old oak. It was matured for a year during which time if received one racking.
