Tasting Notes: With a bright pale yellow colour, our Caliterra Reserva Chardonnay has an intense nose that recalls tropical fruits such as pineapple and passion fruit, with wellintegrated soft, toasty notes given by the aging in wood. On the palate this wine shows delicate sweet flavours that come from the oak along with a lively acidity that brings freshness to the wine, leading to a long, elegant finish.

Producer Details: Caliterra was established in 1996 as a joint venture between the families of Robert Mondavi and Viña Errazuriz. In January 2004 Viña Errazuriz became the sole owners of Caliterra, at the heart of which is the impressive 1000ha Caliterra Estate.
The name Caliterra is taken from 'Calidad' Spanish for quality and 'Tierra' - land. The wine making philosophy of Caliterra is to produce environmentally friendly, quality wines in the heart of the Colchagua Valley. The focus is around the Caliterra estate in Colchagua where 288ha are currently under vine. Crucially a large proportion of this estate, and all new plantings, are on prime hillside sites resulting in high quality fruit and complex wines.
Over the past few years, Caliterra has pioneered a move to sustainable wine production with the country's leading consultant; the four pillars of this approach are sustainable viticulture, community commitment, environmental preservation and eco friendly packaging. Caliterra is certified sustainable - one of the very first Chilean wineries to achieve this accreditation.

In The Vineyard: Our Santa Marta Vineyard in the Casablanca Valley, one of Chile's most recognized valleys for quality white varieties, is situated only 40 km from the coast.

In The Winery: The Chardonnay is the most versatile and friendly white grape variety. It can undergo any winemaking process. Reductive fermentation in stainless steel tanks, oxidative aging, aging in wood barrels for 6 months (50% of the wine), batonage, and no malolactic fermentation this year, were some of the techniques used to successfully create a pleasant and drinkable wine characterized by a varied array of aromas. There is no a fixed process but a dynamic adaptation to the conditions of the harvest and the characteristics of the season. All this diversity enhances the complexity of this wine.
