Tasting Notes: Smooth red fruit and subtle tannins, great value Pinot Noir. Smooth red fruit aromas are supported on the palate with subtle tannins, balanced acidity and a persistent finish.

Producer Details: With prime vineyards in Casablanca, Maipo, Rapel and Bio-Bio and access to the newest and best clones in
Chile (through Jose Guilisasti, brother of Emiliana’s General Manager Rafael who runs Chile’s foremost nursery) Emiliana is a very substantial and impressive organisation. Emiliana is one of the world’s most important producers of Organic and  Biodynamic wines. They have a total of 1,117 hectares under vine of which 750ha are IMO and Demeter certified organic. As South America’s largest organic producer, their spectacular vineyard and winery at Los Robles has the added benefit of being biodynamic and features the sensory delights of roaming Alpacas, dung heaps and dynamised biodynamic mixtures to treat the vineyards.

In The Vineyard: The climate is cold due to the influence of the Pacific and the Humboldt current. Presents permanent humidity and average temperatures of 25°C in summer and 14°C in winter. The grapes come from the Bio Bio valley 800 km south from Santiago, rainfall is around 1300mm per year and the soil are lime and clay mix.

In The Winery: The grapes were picked between 21st march and 1st of April 2011. The pressing is at low temperature to extract color and aromas without extracting tannins. The fermentation is between 24 and 15°C with gentle pumpovers. After fermentation is finished, 20% of the blend is aged in French oak to give more complexity to the wine.
