Tasting Notes: Authentic food friendly chianti with a rustic edge. Well balanced and made for food. Deep ruby red in colour with aromas of violets, wild cherries and subtle spice notes. On the palate the wine is full bodied and balanced with soft wild berry characters and a hint of vanilla and cinnamon, coupled with a long finish and a bitter cherry twang.

Producer Details: The Baroncini family have grown grapes at their historic San Gimignano estate in Tuscany since 1489. Today this dynamic and respected family-owned company, headed up by Bruna Baroncini, comprises 5 estates in different parts of Tuscany and is an excellent source of well-presented and authentic classics from 'middle Italy'.

In The Vineyard: Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, are harvested when fully ripe. Grapes are grown on chalk and pilocene shell soils with 3500 vines per hectare at an altitude 0f 300 metres above sea level. Because of the hilly aspect of the area there exists a micro climate, humid in winter and spring and warm and dry in the summer.

In The Winery: Fermented with carefully selected yeasts, long maceration after fermentation, refined for 12 months in large Yugoslavian wood, bottled and left to mature in the cool cellars for a further 12 months. They use the traditional Botti (large oak casks) that most of Tuscany have to use by DOCG law.
