Tasting Notes: Ripe red berry and cherry fruit flavours - juicy, easy-drinking red. Elegant aromas of cherry, plum and red berry fruits mingle in this attractive light Chianti. Ripe red cherry flavours on the palate are mingled with mellow oak characters adding a hint of spice. Tannins are very food friendly.

Producer Details: The Baroncini family have grown grapes at their historic San Gimignano estate in Tuscany since 1489. Today this dynamic and respected family-owned company, headed up by Bruna Baroncini, comprises 5 estates in different parts of Tuscany and is an excellent source of well-presented and authentic classics from 'middle Italy'.

In The Vineyard: Baroncini's Chianti Colli Senesi Panezio is made from Sangiovese grapes cultivated on hillside vineyards in the San Gimignano region of Tuscany. The vineyards are at 300 metres above sea level and the soil is composed of tuff and pliocene shells. The vines are trained in the Guyot method and planting density is 3,500 vines per hectare. The microclimate in this area is humid in winter and spring and warm and dry in the summer.

In The Winery: The Sangiovese grapes are harvested when fully ripe and fermented using selected yeasts. A long maceration follows fermentation. The wine spends two months in barrel to add further complexity before being bottled.
